Thursday August 13th 9.00am – Highly respected journalist Jim Tucker will join an elite group following the announcement yesterday that he will be inducted into the Suncorp Stadium Media Wall of Fame.

Since its inception in 2006 inductees have included Jack Reardon, George Lovejoy, Frank O’Callaghan, Steve Ricketts, Gerry Collins, Barry Dick and Wayne Heming with the most recent induction being the late Billy J Smith last year.

Queensland Rugby Union Chairman Jeff Miller said“On behalf of the Rugby community we are delighted that this significant honour has been bestowed on Jim Tucker.

Jim is not only one of Australia’s finest sports journalists, he is also one of the best friend’s Rugby has. He is a walking encyclopaedia of knowledge on our sport and richly deserves to sit alongside the other doyens of his industry in the Suncorp Stadium Media Wall of Fame.”

Mr Tucker’s nomination was strongly supported by both the Queensland Rugby Union and The Courier Mail.
The Courier Mail’s Editor Chris Jones said Mr Tucker has been proudly Queensland based for almost four decades.

“Jim covered Australian rugby union during the golden years as well as Queensland’s triumph in the 2011 Super Rugby Grand Final.

He is the son of the famous sports journalist Dick Tucker and inherited much of his father’s passion for the craft starting as a news cadet for News Corp in Sydney in 1978.

After coming to Brisbane in 1982, he has covered three Olympic Games with a flair and news sense which was all his own and three US Masters golf tournaments all the while mentoring young journalists he hoped would follow his path.”

The Suncorp Stadium Media Wall of Fame has been established outside the Media Suite on Level 5 of the Western Stand.

The official induction ceremony for Mr Tucker will occur at Suncorp Stadium in the coming months.
