I reckon Queensland rugby fans will turn the clock back ten years when the Reds take on the Brumbies at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night...

No-one who was in the 52,000-plus home crowd at the 2011 Super Rugby final between the Reds and Crusaders will ever forget the incredible atmosphere as the locals beat the star-studded Kiwis 18-13.

When Reds’ halfback Will Genia ran for over 60-metres to score the match-sealing try the roar from the delirious Queensland supporters was Origin-like in its intensity. There were plenty of big names in the Crusaders side: Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and Sonny Bill Williams amongst them, but the one who will be playing that night back in his mind over and over this week will be their-then lock Brad Thorn.

Now the Reds’ coach, Thorn knows more than anyone just what a huge part the home crowd played in that fabulous Queensland victory and he will be hoping that Reds’ supporters pack the stands and recreate that ‘Fortress Suncorp’ feel for Saturday night’s top of the table blockbuster.

The Reds have plenty to play for. They are undefeated in all six Super Rugby AU matches this season, they are going for their tenth straight win at Suncorp Stadium and, most of all, a win will guarantee them a home final next month.

After just getting pipped by the Brumbies in the Super Rugby AU final down in Canberra last season I reckon Brad Thorn and his players will be itching to turn the tables on them this year – only this time at ‘Fortress Suncorp’.

What do YOU reckon?
