I reckon we’re in for one of the great nights in Origin history when the Maroons play the Blues in the decider at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night...

In what will be the culmination of arguably the strangest season of rugby league ever, Wayne Bennett’s young guns will have the chance to do what few judges thought was even remotely possible just three weeks ago. In a scenario eerily similar to the last time Wayne came riding into town to rescue the Maroons, way back in 2001, a win on Wednesday will clinch a series in which they were given little hope of winning a game, let alone two.

While at one stage it looked like there might not even be any Origin this year, the cards have fallen perfectly for Queensland fans. First there was the unreal atmosphere of the neutral ground in Adelaide – which Bennett and his boys exploited to full advantage – then the Blues returning to top form on their home patch in Sydney. Now it is the turn of around 40,000 Queenslanders to turn Suncorp Stadium into the Cauldron of old and cheer their team across the line.

Both sides are battered and bruised after a long season, but you can bet they’ll be leaving nothing in the dressing room. I reckon it’s going to be a classic.

What do YOU reckon?
