Suncorp Stadium Ready to Roar for Sunday’s Double Header

4.00pm Friday

Following recent concerts, Suncorp Stadium commissioned an independent review of the playing field ahead of its Brisbane Roar double header this Sunday.

The results show the key markers for football – traction and hardness – are all within the acceptable parameters ensuring the field will be safe and playable on Sunday.

Like many venues around Australia, Suncorp Stadium operates as a multi-use venue hosting 2 major concerts in November with more to come during the 2023-24 A-League season.

While the venue has undergone turf replacement for areas of the field effected by concert setup, there is residual cosmetic damage to other areas of the pitch.

The independent consultant was brought in on Thursday afternoon and performed a variety of tests on the turf.

General Manager Alan Graham said that while the surface will not look as pristine as it had during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, it would retain its safety and stability for the two weekend matches.

“Player safety is always front of mind, and we are confident the field will do its job on the weekend,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Brisbane Roar Mens and Womens team in on Sunday and can’t wait for some exciting football to be played.”

The field was inspected this morning by Brisbane Roar CEO Kaz Patafta, COO Zac Anderson and Mens Assistant Coach Luciano Trani.

Gates will open at 1pm this Sunday with the Brisbane Roar Mens kicking off against Perth Glory at 2pm before the Women take on Adelaide United at 4.45pm.

Patrons can access free public transport to and from the event on all regular scheduled services with additional Special Bus Shuttles running between the venue and the City from midday until one hour after the final game.

Tickets are still available via Ticketek.com.au.
