Rideshare Pickup Zones
Following a successful trial, the Stadium will adopt rideshare pickup zones during event egress on an ongoing basis.
This means that arrangements in place during the trial will remain in place for events in September through to the end of the year while the updated Transport Management Plan (TMP) is finalised.
Throughout the trial, learnings were discovered but outside minor adjustments, including permanent signage solutions, the conditions which were in place during the trial will continue.
What is the aim of rideshare pickup zones?
Since redevelopment in 2003, Suncorp Stadium has operated a Traffic Management Plan designed by traffic experts in consultation with the Stadium and key stakeholders to minimise the impacts of major events on the surrounding community.
The Stadium has undertaken a review of the Traffic Management Plan in coordination with the Stadium's Traffic Control Group (TCG), comprising Emergency Services, Brisbane City Council and transport partners.
Feedback from residents and stakeholders has highlighted concerns about rideshare activity around the Stadium precinct during major events, particularly:
- Congestion caused by rideshare vehicles circulating or waiting in local streets;
- Pedestrian safety concerns;
- Traffic impacts on surrounding residential areas.
In response, the TCG recommended trialling dedicated rideshare pickup zones as a practical way to improve traffic management and better manage rideshare activity around the Stadium.
The pickup zones aim to:
- Reduce unmanaged rideshare activity around the Stadium precinct
- Improve pedestrian safety and traffic operations
- Direct passengers to designated collection locations
- Test travel patterns and demand distribution for future implementation.
Was the trial successful?
Yes. The trial received feedback from the Stadiums Traffic Control Group, residents, businesses, patrons, rideshare drivers, transport partners and traffic consultants with positive outcomes observed in the management of rideshare services.
Overall, there has been a noticeable improvement in traffic conditions at the end of events.

Where are the zones?
The three dedicated rideshare pickup zones are located at:
- Cribb Street - Between McDougall Street and Railway Terrace (west) & Between Little Cribb Street and Milton Road (east)
- Given Terrace - Between Campbell Street and Ranley Grove
- Countess Street - Near Secombe Street.
How do the rideshare pickup zones operate?
During event egress, a temporary rideshare geofence will direct rideshare users to the three designated rideshare locations.
The geofence will be activated:
- Approximately 20 minutes before the conclusion of the event.
- For approximately one hour after the event.
- Timings will be listed on event pages on the Stadium website. View What's On here.
Using this technology, rideshare vehicles can be distributed across several locations rather than concentrating in a single area, helping to reduce congestion and vehicle dwell times around the Stadium precinct. The staging locations will be adopted for future events and will continue to be refined based off feedback.
These locations have been selected based on their proximity to the Stadium and their suitability to safely and efficiently accommodate rideshare operations.
How might local residents be affected?
The Stadium recognises that pickup zones, much like changed traffic conditions, may temporarily affect some locals who use rideshare services during event periods.
During geofence activation periods, some residents may need to access one of the designated rideshare zones rather than being collected directly from their property or seek alternative transport arrangements.
Taxi services are not included in the geofence restrictions.

The Basics
When utilising rideshare post an event, users within the designated geofenced area will be directed by their rideshare app to one of the approved rideshare pick-up locations.
The pickup locations are:
- Cribb Street
- Given Terrace
- Countess Street
From approximately 20 minutes before the conclusion of the event until approximately one hour after the event.
No. Only dedicated rideshare pick-up zones are in place not drop-off zones. Event patrons using rideshare services should follow directions provided within their rideshare app and event-day communications.
Suncorp Stadium is still a public transport destination and we recommend using public transport to get to and from the venue.

The locations at Cribb Street, Given Terrace and Countess Street were selected based on their proximity to the Stadium and their suitability to safely and efficiently accommodate rideshare operations.

The arrangements for the rideshare pickup zone trial will continue to be in place for events in September through to the end of the year while the Transport Management Plan (TMP) is finalised.
Local Residents and Accessibility
Residents will continue to be able to access rideshare services. However, residents planning to use rideshare services during the geofence period should allow additional time and be aware that some residents may need to travel to a designated rideshare zone rather than being collected directly from their property.
The Stadium understands this may be inconvenient for some residents and welcome ongoing feedback through our channels.
Taxi services are not impacted by the rideshare geofence.
The Stadium recognises that different community members may experience rideshare pickup zones differently. Residents with accessibility concerns are encouraged to provide ongoing feedback so that event day impacts continue to be understood.
For patrons, a dedicated accessibility pickup point will be located on the Stadium's Northern plaza during the time the geofence is in place.
Importantly, taxi services are not impacted by the rideshare geofence.
