As 2024 comes to a close, we look back on another monumental year for Queensland’s Suncorp Stadium. 

A note from Alan Graham - General Manager

Dear friends of Suncorp Stadium,

As 2024 comes to a close, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude as I reflect on what has been another monumental year for Queensland’s Suncorp Stadium.

Huge numbers at events

Throughout the year we opened our doors for:

  • 52 event days
  • Over 1.4 million patrons
  • 60 matches of rugby, league, and soccer,
  • 4 unforgettable concerts

The SELL OUTS came thick and fast including:

  • 3 spectacular P!nk Shows
  • 1 Travis Scott Show
  • 3 days of NRL Magic Round
  • State of Origin
  • Battle for Brisbane
  • Wallabies v South Africa;
  • Matildas v Brazil

And the sporting teams we hosted included

  • Kangaroos & Jillaroos
  • Matildas
  • Queensland Maroons
  • Brisbane Broncos
  • Queensland Reds
  • Brisbane Roar
  • Dolphins
  • Almost all of the NRL during Magic Round; and
  • Football Queensland Finals

Major Upgrades

Throughout the year we were busy as we:

  • Launched the new Stadium Members Emerald Lounge leading to an increase of 50% in catering turnover
  • Replaced 23,000 seats 
  • Added the speciality Muster Grill catering outlet
  • Renovated an area in the South West corner of Level 3 for increased corporate activations
  • Our grounds team undertook multiple turf replacements in 2024 following concerts and managed to fit in an irrigation upgrade to a state-of-the-art system with additional surrounding infrastructure.

Recognition and Awards

Apart from a multitude of compliments for our new Quiet Room and the staff working in that area of the venue, our staff received National recognition for their part in saving a patron who had suffered a heart attack at a game with the patron getting the chance to meet his lifesavers.

The venue also was recognised with:

  • A Best of Queensland Experiences recognition for its fourth consecutive year;
  • A nomination for Venue of the Year for the second time in The Stadium Business Awards;
  • Won the Sports Turf Management Team of the Year award; and
  • Making Pollstar’s International Top 100 list in ticketing and gross sales.

Community Initiatives

Beyond the action in the Stadium, 2024 was a year of meaningful community initiatives at Suncorp Stadium. Some of the highlights included:

  • Our Annual Charity Golf Day, raising a record-breaking $100,000 for Hear and Say and the Real and Diverse (RAD) Theatre Group;
  • Donating over 450 tickets to support various community groups;
  • Illuminating the Stadium to highlight important local, national, and global causes;
  • Donating food items not allowed into the venue to local charity organisation Communify;
  • Staff participated in a toy drive for charity Friends with Dignity
  • In partnership with Act for Kids, we championed the Stadium of Hope campaign, raising essential funds and national awareness for children impacted by neglect
  • Hosting 42 for 42, an organisation assisting Afghanistan veterans and their families, for their 9th Annual 42 Hour Challenge at the Stadium.

Our precinct was enhanced for public enjoyment by unveiling a vibrant "Welcome to Suncorp" mural in the North Plaza while our Grounds team undertook multiple garden upgrades for the community to enjoy.

We’re now looking forward to Christmas Day, where the Stadium will once again host a gourmet three-course lunch for 200 disadvantaged individuals, providing takeaway essentials and gifts for children, in collaboration with Communify and the O’Brien Group Australia.
