Suncorp Stadium will mark a significant milestone of supporting Hear and Say for 15 years through its Annual Charity Golf Day presented by Programmed Property Services next week.

Over the Stadium Golf Day’s 15-year history the event has raised nearly $700,000 for charities.

The Golf Day has had wonderful sponsors and supporters like Wally Lewis & Allan Langer and many more who help raise its profile.

Queensland legend Wally Lewis said the Stadium does a lot for local charities and organisations to give back to the community and that Hear and Say held a special place with him.

“Learning that your child is profoundly deaf is devastating news for a parent but having the support of a foundation like Hear and Say meant the world to us.
“The work Hear and Say does is vital for kids and their parents - the look on my daughter’s face when we had her switch on for the first time is an image that will stay with me forever.”

The strong support from Suncorp Stadium over the last 15 years has helped Hear and Say expand its services to more clients across Queensland.

This includes establishing new centres at Ashgrove, Upper Mt Gravatt and Rockhampton, providing service delivery in rural and regional locations as well as creating new programs such as school hearing screening which has delivered over 125,000 hearing tests to children throughout the state since the program began in 2015.

Hear and Say CEO Sharon Stokell said that the partnership with Suncorp Stadium has been invaluable to the continued growth of their organization.

“We could not provide this high quality of service to families without donations from organisations such as Suncorp Stadium.
“Hear and Say provides the critical support needed without delay and this is funded through the generous support of funders.
“Philanthropic donations also support initial assessments for clients, transport and accommodation needs for clients in rural and regional areas, and capital needs such as facilities and equipment.”

While the Golf Day on October 17th is sold out supporters can still be involved through the online raffle and auction which has gone live today.

There are several great prizes including tickets to sporting and concert events and unique memorabilia.

One of the hottest auction items that fans can bid on is a touch footy game with 11 of your mates playing with either ‘The King’ Wally Lewis or Alfie Langer.

Always a popular item, which has since turned into a grudge match, fans can bid to play on either Team Wally or Team Alfie with the legends serving as their captain on the hallowed Suncorp Stadium Turf.

“The touch footy game is a once in a lifetime experience for footy fans that does tend to get competitive with both me and Alf desperate for bragging rights for the next year.” Lewis said.

To bid on the auction items head to the Suncorp Stadium website between now and next Friday.
