Rugby League Legends Wally Lewis and Allan Langer faced off for a good cause on the hallowed turf of Suncorp Stadium in the Inaugural Charity Touch Football Championship.

Lewis and Langer captained the two teams of 12 who fiercely battled it out on the pitch accompanied by renowned commentator Peter Psaltis calling the game.

The teams had full access to the inner sanctum including getting ready in the player change rooms, running out through the centre tunnel and having the full experience recorded for bragging rights.

The match was auctioned off as part of Suncorp Stadium’s 2021 Charity Golf Day fundraising auction.

Online participants and attendees at the Annual event had the chance to bid on either Team Wally or Team Alf with the winners securing the right to experience playing on the Suncorp Stadium ground with Rugby League royalty.

The event raised $60,000 for the venue’s charity partner Hear and Say bringing the total raised to nearly $500,000 over the last 11 years.

The Stadium’s Annual Charity Golf Day is part of the ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility program at the venue.

ASM Global manages the venue on behalf of Stadiums Queensland and the fundraising initiative is part of the wider ASM Global Acts program.

The inaugural event means those who missed out last year will get the chance to bid on the prize at this year’s Charity Golf Day later in the year.
