September was not just a month of incredible events but also one of meaningful community support and internal growth.

Event Highlights

We wrapped up Suncorp Stadium’s 2024 NRL Season on September 5th, with the Brisbane Broncos taking on the Melbourne Storm. The final game of the season, was an opportunity for the Broncos club to celebrate their members support with their official ‘Thank You Members’ round. The game was headlined by Birds of Tokyo, who took centre stage on the field to perform two of their classic hits, I’d Go With You Anywhere and Plans, at halftime.

Just two days later, Suncorp Stadium was ready to host the 2024 NPL Queensland and FQPL 1 Men and Women Grand Finals. The four Grand Final matches were held on September 7th, bringing the 2024 NPL and FQPL 1 seasons to an unmissable conclusion.

Upcoming Events

The rest of September saw us looking to the future and the many exciting events that are to come, with country superstar Luke Combs announcing that he will play two shows at Suncorp Stadium in January 2025 and the Matildas announcing a friendly with Brazil on November 28th.

This announcement tied in with the unveiling of the new Matildas mural at Suncorp Stadium - a cast bronze bas relief, approximately 5.5 metres wide and 2.1 metres high, which is located near the southern entrance of the stadium.

Along with these announcements, the Brisbane Roar’s first five games of their 2024/25 season, and the Super Rugby 2025 draw was announced!

Community and Charity Initiatives

This month, Suncorp Stadium also worked with charity Act for Kids to launch the Stadium of Hope helping raise money to support children and their families suffering neglect or abuse. A national marketing campaign was launched by Act for Kids with Suncorp Stadium a proud supporting partner.

Suncorp Stadium permanent staff members sat around a boardroom table, sharing morning tea.

The permanent staff at Suncorp Stadium celebrated R U Okay day on September 12th. The team came together over morning tea, to discuss how R U Okay day serves as a powerful reminder that a simple conversation can make all the difference.

Internal Works and Improvements

Although it's been a quieter month for events at Suncorp Stadium, we've been working full throttle on essential stadium maintenance and upgrades!

  • Our Assets and Operations team has been focused on several major projects, including waterproofing the western grandstand, resurfacing entry concourses, refurbishing signage boards, sealing external battens, installing new Members seating, and upgrading the concert concourse lighting.
  • Meanwhile, our Venue Presentation team has kept the stadium looking its best, with pressure washing of the plazas and detailed carpet extraction throughout the stadium.
  • The Grounds team has also been hard at work, completing a full replacement of the artificial turf on the Eastern sideline of the Field of Play.

There's truly no such thing as a slow month at Suncorp Stadium!

Whether it's game day or behind the scenes prep, we are always striving to improve, so a huge thank you to our dedicated staff and the wider community for their continued support in making the stadium a place we can all be proud of!
