AEG Ogden has secured Suncorp Stadium management rights until the end of 2020 following a Stadiums Queensland tender process.

Stadiums Queensland went to market earlier this year seeking tenders from suitably qualified companies to provide Venue Management Services at the iconic venue.

Stadiums Queensland Chairperson, Sophie Devitt, said while there were several very creditable and well credentialed proposals received, the AEG Ogden bid best met all key criteria.

“Stadiums Queensland was seeking a proponent with proven expertise in stadium management that could efficiently manage stadium operations while still providing the necessary high level service to hirers and a great experience for the fans,” Ms Devitt said.

“AEG Ogden has proven experience in successfully managing events of a diverse nature in a wide range of venues, locations and operational environments. This decision provides certainty for our hirers, tenants and stakeholders moving forward.

“Suncorp Stadium is widely regarded as one of the best venues in this country by players, fans, administrators and promoters. With AEG Ogden’s engagement as stadium operator for a further 5 years, Stadiums Queensland is confident this reputation will continue.”

Chairman and CEO, Harvey Lister said AEG Ogden was pleased and honoured to be re-appointed the venue manager of Suncorp Stadium for a further five years.

“Since AEG Ogden was appointed in 2002 to open and manage the venue, it has established Suncorp Stadium as one of the world’s leading sports and outdoor concert venues,” Mr Lister said.

“The consistent feedback we have received over the past 13 years from international teams and artists clearly rates Suncorp Stadium as among the best venues in the world.

“AEG Ogden has always considered the Stadium as one of the ‘jewels in the crown’ of venues it manages and looks forward to taking the venue to another level during the next five years.”

General Manager, Alan Graham said Suncorp Stadium had strategically developed strong relationships with all of its hirers and worked with them in partnership to grow the number and quality of events delivered and to maximise their commercial opportunities at the venue.

“We have established a close business relationship with other partners, concert promoters and Government agencies to deliver a range of blockbuster events that appeal to Queensland sports fans and concertgoers and provide significant benefits to the local economy,” Mr Graham said.

“We also recognise the importance of being a good corporate citizen within our local community and will continue to work with local residents and businesses to ensure a harmonious co-existence.”

The tender process was managed through respected consultancy firm, KPMG with appropriate probity oversight in place.
