New Accessibility Features at Suncorp Stadium

17/07/2023
Image of Suncorp Stadium at nighttime during an event. Image depicts patrons slowly filing into the seats, with the field in the bottom right-hand corner. The open stadium roof is on display in most of the image.

As part of our ongoing commitment to Accessibility at Suncorp Stadium we are pleased to announce more features which will be open to patrons from the next event onwards.

  1. A second Changing Places Facility located on Level 5 South

  2. A Quiet Room located on Level 3 South

Both of these features are in place to continue to make Suncorp Stadium an accessible venue for all patrons. The Quiet Room has been developed with input from Autism Spectrum Australia who have helped us with operational use. The second Changing Places facility will be registered on the official changing places website in the coming days.

Visit our Changing Places page and our Quiet Room page for more information on each space.

Visual Story

We have also worked with Autism Spectrum Australia on a Visual Story for the venue which can be viewed on our Accessibility page here.

Visual stories are used to prepare people for a new environment or situation and can help people become more familiar with a place or process, and know what to expect before attending and holds a lot of information for people who like to pre-plan before heading to the venue.

Sunflower Program

In conjunction with our work with Autism Spectrum Australia, the sunflower program has also been introduced at Suncorp Stadium.

The sunflower is a globally recognised symbol for non-visible disabilities, also known as hidden disabilities or invisible disabilities. Patrons may choose to wear a lanyard throughout an event to discreetly identify to venue staff that they may need extra help, time or guidance.

The team will be organising staff training for the program and staff who have completed the training will have a Sunflower lanyard or pin on event days.

For patrons who don’t have a Sunflower lanyard, a free lanyard will be able to be collected from staff at the information stands and corporate entrances.

For more information on these new facilities, please head to the Accessibility page on the website.
