Pat Welsh

Pat Welsh has been an icon of television sports commentary for five decades after kickstarting his career at the Seven Network in 1975. Renowned for his Rugby League, Olympic and Golf Commentary, there’s barely a sport or major event he hasn’t covered or stamped his trademark wisdom on. From Bathurst to the Melbourne Cup, the Ashes to the greens of Augusta, over the span of his illustrious career Pat has become one of Australia's top sports journalists, commentators and more recently, sports editors. 6 Summer Olympic Games (Barcelona, Atlanta, Sydney, Athens, Beijing, Rio), 3 Winter Olympics (Nagano, Salt Lake City, Torino) as well as Commonwealth Games and multiple World Cups. While Pat is synonymous with large sporting events at home and abroad, he will be remembered most fondly at Suncorp Stadium for his dedication to Rugby League in Queensland.
